Jesus trained His disciples as they watched what He did. After teaching all day, He asked His disciples to feed the crowd. They react in disbelief, and Jesus takes the matter into His own hands. The feeding of the 5000 results. The disciples forgot they didn't have to do it on their own. What impossible task has God asked you to do? How can you look to Jesus for help? Text: Luke 9:1-17
The woman at the well came at midday because she was shamed by society for her lifestyle. Jesus uses compassion, hope, and truth to change her life. She now participates in the kingdom of God by going and telling all those she had avoided to come see Jesus. Surprisingly the towns people listen and then beg Jesus to stay two more days. Jesus can do the same thing for us today. Text from John 4.
As today’s story from Numbers 11, begins, there is a lot of complaining going on. The people all complain to Moses and then Moses complains to God. They are all losing perspective because they have taken their focus off the Lord. They all need a big dose of gratitude for when we are thankful, it helps us see what God is doing in our lives. This is important, especially in difficult times. Where in your life is God calling you to focus on Him and regain perspective?
God has rescued His people from Egypt, and protected and cared for them as they come to Mt. Sinai. There God wants to meet with his people. His plan is that they obey His covenant and become a kingdom of priests. He verbally gives them the 10 Commandments and shows His glory in the fire, thunder, and earthquake. He does this so they will have respect for Him and not sin against Him. What an opportunity! But what do they do?? Story from Exodus 19 & 20.
God initiated the release of His people from Egypt and guided and cared for them as they traveled through the wilderness. He had a plan for them: they were to obey the covenant so that they could be a nation that was set apart, a nation of priests.
